Haruko Commission by rei-chaka Haruko Commission by rei-chaka
SO BASICALLY, I lost a lot of sleep and sanity over this and even skipped school to get it done. Sometimes when I'm working on these kind of things, it's hard to keep the end result in mind because you're just like "uggggh I don't want to do this anymooooore" but when you actually DO finish, you know what, it's totally worth it XD

I commissioned this for someone by choice (ILU Coscom marketplace  ) because I always liked the design of Haruko's jacket and I wanted to try working with PVC vinyl. And well, I needed money haha I'm really really happy with how it turned out and the photo doesn't do it enough justice. I'm going to ask my client for photos after she wears it so I'll link it back here!

Or can you at least share the pattern with us somehow? I just love this.

Are you still doing commissions? Sorry but, this is the best Haruko shirt jacket thing I have ever seen!

Well the technical skills that went into this are fairly advanced, I used a dress form to draft a pattern and stretch vinyl is a tricky material to work with. This is definitely something I would not recommend doing by hand. But I would suggest looking for a pattern with similar seams and altering it where necessary and if you don't have a machine pleather might be easier to work with. Hope that helps!

Awesome! Did you draft it from the ground up? Or did you modify an existing pattern?

Thanks! I made the pattern from scratch by draping.

I used standard thread, but for stretchy materials nylon thread is supposed to work pretty well.
